Story of Captain Tsubasa

This manga talks about a boy who enjoys playing soccer more than anything in
his life. The story starts when he moves into a new city, where he meets
Ishizaki and the great goalkeeper Genzo Wakabayashi from the Shutetsu school,
the champion of Japan. After a individual confrontation between them, Tsubasa
meets Roberto Hongo, which will be his coach, and we assist to the great game
"Nankatsu vs. Shutetsu". In the middle of the game Taro Misaki arrives and he
will form the "Golden Combination" with Tsubasa, ending the game by 2-2.
Together they will play on a new team, Nankatsu (yeah, the same name but a
different team) and come up to the national championship, where they start by
losing against Meiwa (with Kojiro Hyuga and Takeshi Sawada in it) by 6-7, they
win to Tachibana Twins' Hanawa (those two had a really strange but original way
of playing) by 3-2, to Nakanishi's Naniwa by 5-1 and to Jun Misugi's Mushashi
(he was really good, but had heart problems) by 5-4. So, the finals will be...
"Nankatsu vs. Meiwa" (again!), but this time it will be even more interesting
since both team have new goalkeepers, as Ken Wakashimazu for Meiwa and
Wakabayashi for Nankatsu (he was hurt, so he hadn't play up to now; this will
be his last game, since he is going to Germany to became a professional
player), finishing this very long game by 4-2, Nankatsu winning. I shall
mention Nankatsu's first goal, in which Misaki (this was his last game too,
since his father was going to move to another place) and Tsubasa shoot at the
same time, using an impressive technique that will be called "Twin Shot".
The story continues 2 years from that championship, during this time Tsubasa
won two other times the national championship and tries to win a third time,
feat never achieved by anyone else. After playing against Azuma-ichi, a team in
which a really rough player named Sda plays (he damages Tsubasa), they play
against some old pals, like Hanawa (Tachibana twins used a new technique called
Skylab) and Tsubasa finally master a shot that will be his special, the Drive
Shot, against the giant Hiroshi Jito, who played for Hirado. On the finals they
play against Toho, a team from Tokyo in which Hyuga, Wakashimazu and Takeshi
now play. Well... sort of, the coach didn't want Hyuga to play but he did it
after all, using his special, Tiger Shot. After another long game, it finishes
in a tie (4-4), being both teams called winner (in this national tournament
there aren't any penalty kicks in the end of the games)...
Now the best players will go into the national team in order to play in an
international tournament in France. After some preparation matches, one of
which against Wakabayashi and Karl Heinz Schneider (the "Kaiser" of European
Soccer, both playing for Hamburg SV), they win to Italy and their "Perfect
Keeper" Gino Hernandez by 2-1 and to Argentina (with "soccer prodigy" Diaz and
his friend Pascual, Diaz was surely impressive but Japan's team work made them
win). After wining to France in the penalty kicks (5-4), they will finally play
to Germany, which includes Schneider (the "Kaiser"), Kartz, Magas (or Margus, I
prefer using the first one since it sounds me better), Schester and Dutter
Muller (a giant keeper), and they win by 3-2. Tsubasa goes to Brazil, to play
for San Paulo FC with his old coach from the times of early Nankatsu, Roberto
Hong. And this is where the first set of manga's finish, after 37 chapters...

0.2 Story of Captain Tsubasa World Youth

This set of 18 chapters starts with the presentation of a new japanese
character named Aoi Shingo, who becomes a fan of Tsubasa after his team being
beaten by Nankatsu (Tsubasa's old team in Japan), so he goes to Italy in order
to be a better player. After much trouble, he gets to join Inter Milan, whose
goalkeeper is Gino Hernandez, who becomes Shingo's friend. Then, we get to see
the brazillian championship's final, Tsubasa against the brazillian prodigy,
Carlos Santana, who (like Tsubasa) is also able to learn some of the opponent's
techniques. At the same time, a plot from Gamo (a coach that now appears) is
unveiled... He made a team of seven players (Real Japan 7, if you are
wondering) that would confront the japanese nation team (split in 3 groups of 7
players), and if those last ones lost, 7 players would be thrown out of the
team. Sadly, they lost, so Hyuga, Misaki, Jit, Sda, Nitta, Masao and Kazuo
Tachibana are thrown out of the team and Wakashimazu also leaves the team (he
says he doesn't want to be just a replacement for Wakabayashi), making harder
to Japan getting a win in the coming event, Asian Cup. With the help of Tsubasa
(that came back from Brazil) they manage to win the first two matches, but they
have a hard time against Thailand, since the 3 Konsawatto brothers are really
good at aerial soccer and Shinpurasu Bunnark (a tough defender who uses his
Muay-Thai skills in the field) can hurt Tsubasa, making him not able to attack.
Luckly, Wakabayashi arrives when the score was 4-1, and although he can't catch
any balls (he had both hands broken, due to shots of Levin and Cruyfford) he
manages to stop all of the opponent's shots, Shingo also appears and his
combinated moves with Tsubasa make Japan being able to win this match by 5-4.
During that time, the 7 players that were thrown out were training hard in
order to get new techniques, so Hyuga manages to develop one of the best shots
ever seen, the Rayju (if you are wondering, it is a thunder related beast from
japanese mythology) Shot. Due to those new techniques those players can (this
time) defeat R.J.7 and enter the national team in order to play in the Asian
Cup. They beat teams like Saudi Arabia (from whose captain, the prince Mark
Owaiaran, appears to be one of the best defenders ever), China (with a player
named Sh that is able to counter most shots with his "Dragon Counter Shot")
and South Korea. By doing so, they get to join the World Cup (for players less
than 20 years old)... They start by playing against Mexico, whose great
goalkeeper, Ricardo Espadas, was able to stop Hyuga's Rayju Shoot, but despite
the difficulties they manage to beat them by 2-1. Against Uruguay, they have
another hard match, mainly because Ryoma Hino (the "Japanese Bomber", one of
R.J.7's players, who had double nationality) is also playing and his Tornado
Shot is great, finally they beat it by 6-5. Against Italy they have an easy
match since both Hernandez and Salvatore Gentile ("European Libero One") were
hurt due to Hino's Tornado Shot, and they win 4-0. On the quarters of final
they get to play against Sweden, who had great players like Larrson,
Fredericks, Brolin (a good defender who manages to stop Hyuga's Rayju Shot) and
Levin (yep, the same player who had injured Wakabayashi), but due to the
appearence of the impressive defender Akai Tomeiya (replacing Matsuyama, his
mate Fujisawa was in the hospital), who stops every of Levin's Levin Shot
(yeah, he has a technique with his name ^_^ ) they win 1-0. In the Half Finals
they get to play against Holland, their captain Brian Cruyfford (the other
player that injured Wakabayashi) was playing but UNFORTUNATELY we don't get to
see the match, for some "not interesting" reason, we only know that they won
1-0. Finally, they get to the World Cup's finals and they will be playing
against....... Brazil, whose coach is Roberto Hongo (Tsubasa's old coach at
Japan and Brazil), who says that Tsubasa wouldn't be able to win this time.
After a first half time in which Brazil was surely better than Japan, Santana
is able to score a goal to Wakabayashi. Japan counter with a great Twin
Overhead Shot by Tsubasa and Misaki's Golden Combination and even score another
goal with Seiki Rayju Shot (in which Rayju is used as a pass and Tsubasa and
Misaki shoot with a Twin Shot). When the match was almost over, Roberto uses
his secret player named Naturezza, who is even able to score a goal to
Wakabayashi FROM OUTSIDE THE GOAL AREA (!), making a tie. On the extra time the
hard match continues, but at the end Tsubasa finishes by surpassing the great
player Naturezza and scores a goal, making Japan win the World Cup (for player
that have less than 20 years old). We also get to know that Sanae and Tsubasa
get married and this last one goes to play for Barcelona, a spanish team, and
all the other players join other teams, mainly those of J-League, but some
(like Hyuga, who will play for Juventus) continue to play in their teams, like
Akai Tomeiya... And that's how those chapters of the manga finish.
